This morning the Ethical Kollektiv Team, in partnership with Loft Space Creative, had the privilege to visit the wonderful team at TLC For Kids to learn more about their programs and their new partnership with Ambulance Victoria

The Ethical Kollektiv was lucky enough to speak with TLC For Kids CEO & founder - Tim Conolan AM

About TLC

"I started TLC just over 20 years ago after I learned that many kids were slipping through the gaps of health support services. To me, it was really important that all sick kids have access to support, regardless of their age, location, or condition, and that we are able to support these kids and their families at every stage of their journey."

Rapid TLC was designed to give immediate practical support, when and where it’s needed most. It can be anything from a care package for a family, to support for carers, to helping with funeral and bereavement costs in tragic circumstances. As soon as a healthcare professional submits a Request for a family in need, the team here gets to

actioning it within 24-48 hours."

Distraction Box Program

"After working closely with health services for several years, we were able to identify another need - distraction for children during painful, uncomfortable or invasive procedures. We created the Distraction Box Program to address this need, with the hopes of making hospital a little less scary for kids.

Today, our Distraction Boxes have been doing just that in over 405 hospitals and clinics around Australia, from metro cities to remote and rural locations."

TLC Ambulance Program

"Our latest needs-responsive program is the TLC Ambulance, and it might just be our most powerful program yet. The TLC Ambulance will be delivering special moments to children in palliative care, transporting them to a treasured destination - perhaps for the final time. The Ambulance will be repurposed to provide a calm and enjoyable environment for the kids and their families, and the entire experience will be filmed as a keepsake for the family.

TLC Ambulance trips might include a trip to the beach to watch a final sunset;

a trip to Luna Park; or even just a trip home to pat their dog for the final time.

What’s really special about this program is that it was prompted by Ambulance Victoria paramedic Jemima Tawse who was inspired by her own experience with her daughter Emily, who passed away last year and received support from TLC for Kids throughout her life" - See Video Below

Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of the general public, TLC have raised more than enough to cover the costs of the internal fit-out of the TLC Ambulance.

Now, TLC For Kids are turning their sights to getting a second vehicle on the road – meaning that they would be able to support double the amount of palliative children.
